our story

Hi, I’m Mimi Jensen, the owner and founder of Sonder.

I’ve always been a horse girl. Some of my earliest memories are trail riding with my dad in the Colorado Rockies, sitting in front of him on his saddle. That early connection sparked a lifelong relationship with horses that has taken many forms over the years.

I split my life between Colorado and New Jersey and rode competitively in the hunter-jumper circuit before returning west to work at a dude ranch in Granby. After stepping away from riding, I felt a deep pull to stay connected to horses in a more intentional way. That path led me to equine bodywork.

After an eight-year period without horses in my daily life, I discovered The Masterson Method and was deeply moved by its quiet, horse-led approach. I went on to study the method through hands-on training in Montana and Arizona, along with seminars across Colorado’s Front Range, learning from teachers I deeply respect, including Jim Masterson, Mark Rashid, and Dr. Steve Peters.

I am currently completing my equine massage training through RMSAAM. Together with my ongoing bodywork education, this work forms the foundation of Sonder—thoughtful, integrated care that supports both the physical body and the nervous system.

I chose the name Sonder for its meaning: the realization that every individual carries a life as complex and vivid as your own. I believe this applies just as deeply to horses. Each horse has their own inner world, history, and way of moving through life, and my work is rooted in honoring that individuality while supporting comfort, connection, and wellbeing.

My vision for Sonder extends beyond individual sessions. I’m passionate about working closely with horse owners and caretakers to deepen connection beyond riding and daily responsibilities, and I hope to expand Sonder to include educational opportunities for children—helping foster relationships with horses rooted in understanding, respect, and shared trust. Now settled in the Roaring Fork Valley, I’m excited to build new relationships within this community and continue growing Sonder here, supporting both horses and the people who care for them with intention, curiosity, and presence.
